Our Philosophy
At Thyme, every dish begins in the earth. Our kitchen draws from organic gardens, local producers, and the abundant landscape of the Brandwater Basin. We believe that the best ingredient is an honest one — grown nearby, harvested at its peak, and cooked with care.
Our fresh herbs and seasonal vegetables come from our own organic garden, just steps from the kitchen.
We source from local farmers and producers in the Brandwater Basin, keeping food miles low and quality high.
No shortcuts. Seasonal menus, made-from-scratch cooking, and flavours that speak for themselves.
Come as you are
Whether you're joining us for a quiet lunch, celebrating a special occasion, or learning in one of our garden workshops — Thyme is a place where food, people, and the land meet. Come hungry, leave inspired.

Our Story
Thyme began with a simple belief: that great food doesn't need to travel far. Nestled in the heart of Fouriesburg, in the shadow of the Maluti Mountains and the rich valleys of the Brandwater Basin, we built a kitchen rooted in the landscape around us.
Our organic garden is the heartbeat of the restaurant. From the fresh thyme and rosemary to the seasonal vegetables that anchor every plate, the garden is where our menus are written — not in an office, but in the earth, season by season.
We work closely with local farmers, producers, and artisans from across the Free State to bring you food that is not only fresh and honest, but deeply connected to where you are.
"We don't just cook with herbs from our garden.
The garden is the menu."
What We Stand For
Every ingredient we can source from the Fouriesburg area, we do. We know our farmers by name and trust them with our quality.
Our garden is organic, our menu is seasonal. We cook what the earth gives us, when it gives it.
Everything is made from scratch. Stocks, sauces, bread — if it can be made in our kitchen, it is.
Thyme is part of the Fouriesburg community. We celebrate local heritage, support local people, and welcome everyone to our table.
